Searching for & Applying to Positions

After you join the CIC Fair Event in Handshake, you'll receive a confirmation email. You should then apply for interviews in advance of the November 27 deadline. You can view employers interviewing at the NYC CIC event by clicking "Jobs" from your Handshake dashboard and searching keyword "NYC CIC." You can also search by other keywords, job functions and more.

  • Before you apply to positions, we recommend having your resume and cover letter(s) reviewed by a Career Center advisor.
  • Once you've finalized your application(s), upload your resume(s), cover letter(s) and other required documents. You'll find the Documents menu by clicking on your name in Handshake.
  • Apply for individual positions. On each position description page will be an Apply button. Clicking it will allow you to select which uploaded documents to attach to your application (or tell which application documents you are missing). Once you’ve uploaded the required documents, your application will be submitted for the employer to review. You can track your status under Applications on the Jobs menu in Handshake.
  • Application deadline for pre-selected interviews: November 27, 2017, 11:59 pm

How the CIC Fair Works

  • From 9 to 11:30 am, the morning consists of a career fair that is open to all undergraduates from the consortium schools. Pre-arranged interviews are held in the afternoon from 12:30 to 5 pm.
  • You can apply for interviews through Handshake by uploading your documents and submitting them to individual positions of interest by November 27, 2017 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Whether you have an interview scheduled or not, all registered participants can attend the career fair in the morning and talk to employers about their organizations and open positions.
  • Some employers at the career fair leave room on their interview schedules and may add you based on a conversation you have with them in the morning.
  • In the afternoon, employers interview pre-selected students for jobs and internships.
  • Students attending the CICs are responsible for their own transportation and lodging.
