How to Hire and Pay your Student Employees

All employers wishing to hire and pay students must apply for a PeopleSoft Human Resources System (HRMS) Account. (Exception: all SMFA at Tufts employers should contact Caleb Davis directly for next steps)

  1.  Go to https://access.tufts.edu/forms for Forms
  2. Under Human Resources, then Forms for Managers and Department Admins, choose the PeopleSoft HRMS Account application
  3. Fill out the application and return completed application to Tufts Support Services (TSS) via email at tss@tufts.edu
  4. Once approved you may log into PeopleSoft HRMS/eServe with your Tufts username and password
  5. To enter a student employee, choose Student and Temp Employees, and click on Hire Employee; enter all required information and submit

Once the student fills out all necessary payroll information online and Tufts Support Services verifies the I-9 with original documents, the job will go live and the student will appear on your PeopleSoft Time Entry to enter hours on a weekly basis. Please note that due to timing of when the I-9 is completed and the the Pay Period opens, if the student does not appear in your Timekeeping, but you know the I-9 has been completed, please submit a paper timesheet until the following Pay Period.
