Program Curriculum

Core Class

In your core class, you will focus on effective communication in English, working to strengthen your speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Classes include preparation for the Discover America excursions. You will be grouped in small classes (under 18 students) according to English ability (beginner/intermediate/advanced).

Special Interest Topics Class

In your Special Interest Topics class, you will build confidence and ease with English by focusing on one of a wide variety of topics. Topics are personalized and individualized to meet the interests of each class. Topics are decided upon each year based on student interest. Possible special interest topics in the past have included Current Events, American Idioms and Culture, History, and Culture of Boston, TOEFL Preparation, Innovation and Innovators, and Novel Study.

(Optional) Afternoon Workshop

English Today University students are invited to participate in our optional workshop program for an additional fee. The workshop meets in the afternoon and provides students with additional English language preparation activities. These include pronunciation, speaking, vocabulary, writing skills, and cross-cultural communication. Students who choose this option will not participate in the afternoon excursions in Boston on workshop days.

Should you need additional support, our program staff can arrange tutoring sessions to complement our intensive academic program.
