2019 Student Coordinators

Kaleigh Pentland

Kaleigh Pentland

Kaleigh is a rising A&S sophomore from Boston, Massachusetts. She is currently pursuing a biology/music double major on the pre-med track. Her involvement in the arts at Tufts is heavily focused on voice performance and costume building - she is the secretary of the Tufts Choir Board, the head of Choir Setup Crew, and a seamstress at the Tufts Costume Shop. However, she also enjoys creating visual artwork in her free time. Her other hobbies include dogspotting, belting off-key showtunes, and browsing wholesome memes. Since participating in Arts @ Tufts as an incoming freshman, the program has held a special place in her heart. She is thrilled to be coordinating Arts this year, and can’t wait to welcome the incoming class in August!

Tyler Whitaker

Tyler is a member of the Combined Degree program with the SMFA, pursuing a BFA in Studio Art and a BS in Engineering Psychology. In his free time, he debates with the Mock Trial team, thrifts used vinyl records, and watches home improvement videos.

Sarah Valente, also known as “Val,” is a new member of the ARTS@Tufts family. She is a long arts appreciator and practicing interdisciplinary visual artist. Val has studied art in the context of a wide array of subjects. During undergrad, she researched art conservation and paint pigments as part of her Chemistry major at College of the Holy Cross. She later graduated with an MBA from Assumption College where she focused on nonprofit leadership and public art. Most recently, Val has enjoyed growing her creative practice in the Studio Art Post-Baccalaureate program at Brandeis University. In her current work, she constructs portraits using screen printing, quilting, mold-making, and traditional painting techniques. Outside of the studio or office, Val can be seen trying out a new recipe or planning her next big trip. Val frequents both the Fenway and Medford campuses in her primary role as Assistant Director of Student Affairs at the SMFA at Tufts.
