Immigration Updates:

On June 26, 2018 the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) upheld Presidential Proclamation 9645, commonly known as The Travel Ban. The ban restricts travel to the United States for nationals of seven countries (Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen). The power point provides general information on the implications of the SCOTUS decision.

On August 9, 2018 a new policy regarding unlawful presence for F-1 and J-1 visa holders in the United Status will take effect.  F-1 and J-1 visa holders who fall out of status and remain in the US will begin to accrue time in unlawful presence. This may have significant implications on re-entering the US in the future. The power point provides an overview of unlawful presence as well as the policy changes on unlawful presence classification for F-1 and J-1 visa holders who fall out of status.  For case specific questions please reach out to the Tufts International Center by email at InternationalCenter@tufts.edu or to your student/scholar advisor.
