Find a First-Steps Meeting or Program Presentation

Study Abroad Fairs

Every September, we host an Annual Study Abroad Fair with representatives from over twenty-five Tufts and external programs. All class years and majors are welcome, though it will be of particular interest to first-year and sophomore students. Come and learn about the various options to spend a semester or year studying abroad. 2019 Fair Date: Wed., Sept 11th from 11:30am to 2:00pm.

First Steps Meetings

If you are considering study abroad, you must either attend an in-person "First Steps" meeting or watch the "First Steps" online module video series, ideally in your first or second year at Tufts. First Steps is an essential part of planning for study abroad, as it covers the basics of study abroad; the entire presentation lasts approximately 30 minutes. If you attend an in-person meeting, you will have an opportunity to ask some general questions about preparing for study abroad and selecting a program. In-person meetings held throughout the semester, at 12:00pm on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday (schedule varies); check calendar below for exact dates and locations.

Tufts Programs Abroad Information Meetings

In the fall semester, we hold program-specific information meetings (with pizza!) for each of our ten Tufts Programs Abroad. In these meetings, you will have an opportunity to learn more about our various program offerings, hear from program alumni, and meet Resident Directors. Come with questions about the experience and the application process. These meetings are especially targeted to sophomores preparing to apply for Tufts Programs Abroad (February 1 of sophomore year) for study abroad during their junior year. The fall 2019 schedule is TBD:

External Programs Presentations

On occasion, representatives from external programs visit campus to present on their offerings. These presentations are occasionally scheduled to follow a First Steps meeting; however, please note that attendance at a non-Tufts presentation does not satisfy the First Steps Meeting attendance requirement. Presentations by external programs are specific to the program and do not cover any of the Tufts policies or procedures. The fall 2019 schedule of presentations is currently being set, but includes so far:

  • London School of Economics: Thursday, September 12 at 5:00 pm in Dowling Hall, Room 730A
