Rob Mack
Director, Dean Robert Mack has been director of the BLAST program since its founding in 2012. In addition to serving as the Director, he was hired to serve as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Advising.  In 2016, Dean Mack accepted the opportunity to lead a new initiative heading the Office for Student Success and Advising. In his role, he continues to support University initiatives for new students as they transition to Tufts while continuing to support underrepresented communities on campus.  
Dean Mack has completed his Ed.D in educational leadership and supervision at American International College. He also holds an M.Ed. in counseling in mental health and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in social justice education from the University of Massachusetts. Dean Mack is a first-generation college graduate who participated in a bridge program as an undergraduate, and his experiences as a bridge program scholar continue to inform his practice as an educator and administrator.
The BLAST Program is supported by the Office for Student Success and Advising. The Student Success Advisors (Liberal Arts BA/BS and Engineering) are an integral part of the BLAST program.  
Jared Smith
Assistant Director, Jared Smith joined the OSSA team in 2016 shortly after graduating from Tufts University with a B.A. in Sociology. In his role, Jared supports all students’ transition to Tufts University through sharing and connecting students to academic and co-curricular resources. He also works exclusively with the BLAST Program by coordinating the BLAST Summer Program, leading the Fall and Spring seminars, and overseeing other programmatic initiatives. As a member of the inaugural cohort, Jared understands the immense value in being part of this program while studying at Tufts. He firmly believes that his success was emboldened by the resources, mentorship, and opportunities afforded to him through BLAST.
