Academic Essentials

As a student-centered research institution, Tufts University is committed to providing members of its community with inclusive and collaborative spaces to create bold ideas, tackle complex issues in innovative ways, and distinguish themselves as active citizens. As an undergraduate student, you will have the opportunity to explore your academic interests through a multi-disciplinary lens and engage with a variety of resources that aim to support your academic, personal and professional goals, not only during your time at Tufts, but beyond.

As a Tufts undergraduate, you’ll have a lot more flexibility in selecting courses than you did in high school, and your advising team is here to support you as you navigate the transition from high school to university. This summer, you will be required to complete an online Canvas course, Academic Essentials, prior to your arrival at Tufts. Academic Essentials will cover all the basic academic information you need to know before you meet with your pre-major advisor to discuss fall registration in August and to guide you through your academic transition to the university. More information on Academic Essentials will be available in early June.

Listed below are additional academic resources that you should explore and familiarize yourself with prior to Orientation and the start of the fall semester.
