Internship Funding

Tufts offers several options for summer funding for unpaid summer internships, individual research, and projects abroad. Here's a list of opportunities:

Tufts Career Center Summer Internship Grants

The Career Center funds over 50 undergraduate students each summer doing unpaid internships for a minimum of 300 hours. These funds offer students the opportunity to explore career fields and gain experience. Selected students will receive $4,000. Students must secure an internship prior to the deadlines.

Tisch Summer Fellows Program The program offers substantive internships that allow students to gain real-world skills, grow their networks, and explore career paths while building stronger communities on a local, national, or international level. TSF fellowships are available for undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students. January 27, 2020 (Noon)
Anne E. Borghesani Memorial Prize An incentive award that enables the recipient(s) to undertake a research project, internship, volunteer activity, or plan of study in any field involving international issues.

IR Research Scholars Program This scholarship pairs rising seniors with faculty mentors who guide a summer research project abroad in preparation for a Senior Honors Thesis, Directed Research Project, senior seminar paper, Fulbright proposal or other significant research paper in the senior year. Laidlaw Undergraduate Research and Leadership Program A scholarship funding undergrads over the course of two consecutive summers to pursue a research project. Scholars are supported for up to six weeks each summer, working closely with a Tufts faculty mentor. Research projects can focus on a variety of topics, including international projects. Teams working on a common research question may also apply. February 18, 2020
Global Research Assistant Program The program provides an opportunity for Tufts undergrads (rising SO, JR & SR) to work with Tufts faculty members on international research and impact projects for a minimum of eight weeks during summer 2018. February 27, 2020
Visiting and Early Research Scholar Experience (VERSE) Program A 10-week summer research immersion experience open to undergrads who identify as African American, Hispanic, Latino, Native American or Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander. The scholar award includes a stipend, meals, housing, and professional development. February 28, 2020
Lily Glidden Award An award given to undergraduate or graduate students who have passion for the natural world and a plan to explore it on their own terms. The goal of this award is to help students clear financial hurdles so they can step out of their comfort zone and pursue their dreams. March 2, 2020
Tufts Summer Scholars Program Funds rising juniors and seniors for ten-week independent research projects. Students work closely with a faculty mentor to create a poster to present in the fall. Summer Scholars then present the next stage of their research at the Undergraduate Research Symposium in the spring. Often, summer projects will culminate in a senior honors thesis. March 2, 2020
Tisch Library Undergraduate Research Award Tisch Library has developed an award recognizing outstanding undergraduate use of the library’s collections, resources and services in the production of an exemplary research project. March 9, 2020

DC Summer Intern Scholarship for Women Offers $1600 per month for female undergrads who are applying to or have secured an unpaid internship in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Internships must be in the centered on government, public service, non-profit endeavors, and/or women’s rights.  February 1, 2020
