What do you do as an intern at this organization?
I program on KAYAK's iOS team, dealing with front-end issues on their iPhone and iPad apps. Sometimes I get to design mockups of new user interfaces for existing or future features. I also respond to some customer support emails, mostly in Spanish.
How did you find this internship?
I went to a career fair in NYC, where I met the person who hired me and KAYAK's CTO. I heard about them when they came to give a talk at Tufts.
What do you enjoy most about your internship?
I get to program and design and get paid for it.
What do you find challenging?
KAYAK has high standards for everything, so I always have to triple check not only my code but also my approach to how I solve problems.
What advice would you offer to someone who wants to make the most of an internship like yours?
Get to know your co-workers really well; they are the ones who will mentor you, help you improve your craft, and get jobs in the future. Get to know your fellow interns really well; they are the people who you will be starting companies with in the future.
