What do you do as an intern at this organization?

I was given a problem that customers were having with a specific product and spent the summer investigating the safety/reliability of some possible solutions. This involved designing experiments and a test setup, running tests, compiling and analyzing data and then giving a final presentation to company executives about my recommendation.

How did you find this internship?

I met a representative at the SciTech fair at the beginning of spring semester. Then I was contacted for an on-campus interview with a company representative, and afterwards was invited to a company interview day at the Attleboro site, where everyone had 3 technical interviews and one HR interview.

What do you enjoy most about your internship?

Getting to work on my own project from start to finish was very rewarding. I learned a lot about not only technical things but also about how a company like Sensata works; their intern program is very well developed, and they focus a lot on education. Company culture is great and people are very friendly.

What do you find challenging?

I had a lot of work some weeks, so I ended up working at home sometimes too. My project was much more testing-based than design-based as well, which was a little different from what I was expecting, and the tests were a bit time-consuming/tedious at times.

What advice would you offer to someone who wants to make the most of an internship like yours?

Don't be afraid to ask questions and share your ideas; one thing Sensata does really well is make it clear that they value your opinions even as an intern, which is something you should take advantage of. Get involved in the company social activities; it's a great way to meet different people and learn more about the company as well.
