What do you do as an intern at this organization?

I introduce a district-wide branding campaign into all communication media (website, marketing collateral, social media) and develop a public relations timeline and strategy for the 2013-2014 school year, based on historical information and the District Improvement Strategy. I also redesign targeted websites, improve usability of school websites, collaborate with HR to develop high-quality marketing collateral and outreach strategy, and develop and implement a summer program marketing campaign.

How did you find this internship?

My internship was one of the placements offered through the Tisch College's Active Citizenship Summer. I applied for three different positions, but only interviewed for and received this one.

What do you enjoy most about your internship?

I like the independence and the chance to explore my community more thoroughly, but most of all I like the chance to apply my media skills to real world work, maintaining my Tufts-imbued social conscience.

What do you find challenging?

Working full-time is very different from going to school, just as working in an office full of adults is very different from living among only people my own age. It was an adjustment that had to happen though.

What advice would you offer to someone who wants to make the most of an internship like yours?
