50th Anniversary Celebration

Since 1969, the Africana Center has stood as a beacon for students of African descent—and for all students at Tufts. More than a place, it’s a supportive community where students are encouraged to come together, access resources, develop their talents, and strive to be their best.

We invite you to join us for our 50th Anniversary Celebration during Homecoming Weekend, October 18-20, and remember the difference the Africana Center has made for you. You’ll reconnect with old friends, meet some new ones, and help us build a stronger and more connected Black Alumni Association.

Count me in!

Program Highlights

  • Friday: Register, reunite, and view an historical timeline of the Africana Center legacy while listening to the styling of the Joel LaRue Smith Quartet at the Welcome Reception.
  • Saturday: Continue the celebration at the fourth annual Homecoming Tailgate, hosted by the Tufts Black Alumni Association.
  • Saturday evening: Come dressed in your best Wakandan wares and showcase the regality of black pride at the Tuftonian Wakanda Gala at Gifford House, The President’s Residence.
  • Sunday: Close out the weekend with a celebration of black spirituality, music, and culture followed by a jazz brunch.

All this, plus more. Sign up before May 31 for access to early bird pricing!
