Keio University

The Keio Program was a two-week course, designed specifically for students from Keio University. The goals of the program are to provide an overview of U.S. foreign policy in East Asia and an understanding of U.S. perspectives toward Japan. The program promotes discussions and debate in the English language while offering lectures by leading university faculty from across the Boston area.

In the Program students explore the following themes:

  • U.S. Japan Partnership
  • The Rise of China
  • The Korean Peninsula
  • Globalization

In addition to coursework students are able to explore local area museums, historical sites and colleges on the weekends.

As an Asian history major, I found it interesting to know how people outside Asia perceive issues that the region faces. I've learned that we need to listen to people with different backgrounds and think of solutions from multiple perspectives instead of sticking to what we've been taking for granted.
