Undergraduate Orientation

Orientation for Parents and Families

Welcome to the Tufts community! Undergraduate Orientation is mandatory for all new students, including new transfer students. Tufts also offers eight Pre-Orientation programs; these are optional and take place prior to Undergraduate Orientation. There will also be optional programs for parents and families on your student’s move-in day, and we hope you will participate.

Family Engagement

Starting in May, the Student Life team will be communicating with you and your student about Tufts resources and introducing you to members of the Student Life team and our campus partners. Your student will have access to a “New Student Checklist” online to keep them on track with a few essential items to complete over the summer. 

In the meantime, please check this web page for updates related to parent and family programming and the Orientation Programs and Communications website for student-related programming. We look forward to welcoming you and your student to campus this summer!

Important Dates

Orientation events for parents and families will be offered during Pre-Orientation arrival/move-in on Friday, August 23 and Orientation arrival/move-in on Wednesday, August 28; participation is optional, but parents and families coming for their student's arrival/move-in day are encouraged to attend. Parent & Family Pre-Orientation and Orientation programming schedules TBA. 

Parents and families are welcome to return on Thursday, August 29 for the Matriculation Ceremony, but are not required to. The ceremony will be live-streamed.
