Registrar

The Registrar is the custodian of Arts and Science and Engineering undergraduate and graduate student records and facilitates course registration and changes, degree certification, grading, transcripts, enrollment verifications, the Bulletin, transfer of credit, and other functions as they relate to the student record. We are supported by Student Services, the first point of contact for many administrative services at Tufts. We also help students and families get answers to questions, complete University transactions, and make appointments as needed.

What is FERPA?

The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) grants the student:

  1. access to their "educational records" (as defined),
  2. the right to seek to change portions of the records which are incorrect or inaccurate, and​
  3. the right to limit or prevent disclosure of the records to third parties, except those allowed access by FERPA.
Policy Statement

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (“FERPA”) provides students certain rights with respect to their educational records. The full policy can be reviewed on the Department of Education’s website. Information on our website is published to establish University policy with respect to certain types of student records.

How can I get access to my student’s academic records?
  • We recognize there are situations in which students may want to give a parent or guardian access to their record. Students can grant Invited Viewer Access to their SIS secure personal information. As dictated by our FERPA policy, students have complete control of which information they choose to reveal, and can revoke access at any time.
  • Information about how students can set up this access are available online. Help for invited viewers about their set up can also be found online. Invited Viewers can reset their passwords from the main SIS login page by choosing the “can’t log in” option and then following the instructions for guests.

Invited Viewers, on occasion, have accidently removed themselves as an invited viewer from the student’s account by selecting the “X” in the small blue student details box. If this does occur, the student will need to re-invite the invited viewer to their account.
