Graduate Awards Nomination Process

Each year, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering honor their graduate students, faculty, and alumni through the Graduate Awards.

Nomination and Selection Process

The awards celebrate outstanding graduate student, faculty, and alumni achievement in areas such as academic performance, research, student leadership, community service and citizenship, and contributions to undergraduate education. Faculty may nominate individuals for school-level awards. The nomination deadline for student awards is March 1, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. The nomination process and deadlines for submitting alumni awards is separate from these awards. Please contact Angela Foss for information on submitting an alumni nomination.

  • Faculty may nominate students for the annual Graduate Awards ceremony via the nomination form. The nomination deadline for student awards is March 1, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.

  • The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering invite you to nominate faculty for the Faculty Teaching and Mentoring Award, which recognizes the important and valuable contributions our faculty make to graduate education. Each school recognizes one faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding support of a graduate student (or graduate students) from course completion through research and post-degree placement.

    We encourage you to solicit nominations for the Faculty Teaching and Mentoring award from graduate students and from faculty in your departments. Each graduate program is invited to nominate one individual for the award. The nomination should include a letter of nomination from the chair and/or graduate director of the program, and three letters of support from students (current and former) who have direct knowledge of the nominee’s mentoring and/or teaching. Please send your nomination and supporting materials, in one email with attachments, to Angela Foss at angela.foss@tufts.edu by March 1, 2024.

Graduate Student Council Awards

Students may nominate individuals and organizations for Graduate Student Council (GSC) awards. The nomination deadline for GSC awards is March 1, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.

Award Recipients and Descriptions

The awards fall into several categories, including Leadership, Public Service, and Mentoring Awards, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Awards, School of Engineering Awards, and Departmental Awards. The awards ceremony also recognizes winners of the Graduate Student Research Competition, Faculty Teaching and Mentoring, Graduate Alumni Awards for Outstanding Career Achievement and Outstanding Service, Graduate Student Council Awards, and Graduate Student Photo Contest.
