CMHS Cost and Eligibility
Undergraduate and Graduate Students
All currently enrolled full-time students as well as currently enrolled part-time students who have paid the Health and Wellness fee are eligible for services through CMHS. This means you are eligible for an initial appointment in which a CMHS counselor will assess your needs and will talk with you about your concerns, making recommendations for follow-up treatment. Your counselor might suggest a referral to a therapist in the community as the follow-up treatment plan.
Fees
Counseling sessions are free of charge for eligible students. Psychiatry services may carry a fee, as outlined below:
- Initial evaluation: no charge
- Most medication follow-up visits (20-30 minutes) are billed at $100/visit
- For students enrolled in Tufts Student Health Insurance, psychiatry visits are covered in full.
- For other health insurance plans, we do not bill your insurance directly but will send you an itemized medical bill to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, if requested.
- Concerns about payment should not be a barrier to seeking needed treatment. Please let your referring counselor know if you will have trouble paying the fee for psychiatric services.
