Health Promotion

Health Promotion works to create a wellness-supporting environment on Tufts’ campus through advocacy, education, research, and resources.

Health and wellness are impacted by our social relationships, our physical environment, genetics, and several other factors. Health Promotion looks at the health and well-being of our entire community: individuals, groups, networks, and neighborhoods. By using a number of different strategies, Health Promotion works to make Tufts a health-supporting campus for our students.

Health Promotion can include lots of different aspects of health. Learn more about several of them below.

THREAD: Tufts Harm Reduction Education for Alcohol and Drugs

The mission of THREAD is to educate and engage students so they can make informed decisions about substance use that aligns with their values and goals, safety and health, and respects the community around them.

Counseling and Mental Health Services (CMHS) Programming and Outreach

CMHS offers a number of non-clinical workshops, directs the Mental Health Reps, and provides student-led groups to help in finding friends and deeper connections.

Koru Mindfulness

Koru Mindfulness® is a free four-week introduction to the practice of mindfulness. You will learn several tools, including meditation, breathing exercises, guided imagery, and more. Sessions meet in person once per week for 4 consecutive weeks. Attendance at all four weeks is required.

Health Promotion has opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students to get involved with the work of health promotion at Tufts.

We are currently not taking any additional students for fall 2023. Please reach out to Executive Director of Health and Wellness, Sonya Satinsky at sonya.satinsky@tufts.edu if you’re interested in spring 2024 opportunities.
