Graduate Welcome Week

Welcome to Tufts! All new graduate students in the School of Arts & Sciences, the SMFA at Tufts, and the School of Engineering are invited to participate in Student Life Graduate Orientation! All graduate students in the School of Arts & Sciences, the SMFA at Tufts, and the School of Engineering are invited to Graduate Welcome Week!  Whether you have a long history at Tufts or this is your first experience with us, being part of the vibrant life of the university outside the classroom and lab is a useful part of your next chapter. This welcome week, participate in Tufts traditions and join Student Life for a series of upbeat opportunities to meet people outside your department and check out everything the university has to offer. 

Student Life Orientation and Graduate Welcome Week is in addition to the required orientations presented by each college and any required department or lab meetings for new students. Check out the academic orientations for the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and the SMFA at Tufts, and School of Engineering.

Student Life Graduate Orientation 

Thursday September 3rd, Noon-8pm Medford Campus

Save the date for a day filled with Tufts Student Life!  Join us for a welcome session, opportunities to connect with new students and student leaders, Tufts Traditions and more! 

Welcome & Arrival Experience Noon-1pm, Mayer Campus Center 

Pick up your new student ID, meet resources, and have some slush!  Tours will depart from the Campus Center beginning at 12:30.  

Insider Campus Tours 12:30-3pm, Depart from Mayer Campus Center 

Join a Campus Expert for an insider tour of all the places you'll frequent as a Grad Student! Tours will leave on a rolling basis from the Campus Center beginning at 12:30.  Last tour will depart at 1pm and will last around 90 minutes.  

Student Life Welcome 2-4pm, Granoff Music Center 

Enjoy cold drinks and a snack while you get to know the Student Life Staff, followed by a Q&A Panel of Grads! Panel discussion will begin at 3pm.  

GradConnect & Dinner 4:30-6:30pm, Joyce Cummings Center 

Connect with new grads and enjoy a catered dinner!  Conversations and connections will be facilitated by current Grads! 

Exclusive Grad Bookstore Event 6:30-7:30pm, Campus Bookstore 

The bookstore will be open after hours just for Grads in this exclusive event!  Grad students can enter a raffle and get a discount on merch! 

Illumination Ceremony 7:45-9pm, Chapel Hill Lawn

The illumination ceremony marks your official start as a Tufts Student as you become the Light on the Hill! 

Graduate Welcome Week Social Events 

Boston Outing  

Saturday September 5th, 1pm

Join us for a ride on the MBTA and an outing to explore Boston Commons and Newbury Street.  Meet on the Joyce Cummings Center Patio.  

Discover Davis Square 

Sunday September 6th, Noon-5pm

Tufts annual tradition of welcoming new students to one of best parts of the Tufts' Neighborhood!  Join other Grad Students for a fun day of exploring Davis Square. Meet at Flatbread in Davis Square to check in, enter the raffle and bowl!  

Graduate Student Pub Night 

Thursday September 10th, 6-10pm, Mayer Campus Center Lower Level 

Following the Grad Student Resource Fair and Picnic, join us for a Pub Night in Hotung.
