Mary Kate Kelley (She/Her/Hers)
Director, Orientation and Student Experience
As the director of orientation, Mary Kate oversees pre-orientation, orientation, and first-year experience for new students to support students’ transition to Tufts. Mary Kate also serves as fraternity and sorority advisor and assists with other initiatives to increase the student experience.
Mary Kate holds a masters in higher education from Boston College and before working at Tufts worked in first year experience and housing at Endicott College and Boston College.
Alyssa Zahoruiko (She/Her/Hers)
Assistant Director Student Life, Orientation & Student Experience
Alyssa is from North Andover Massachusetts, where she received her BA from Merrimack College. She received her MEd from Suffolk University before moving across the country to work at the University of Redlands in their Residence life department.
Prior to joining Tufts in 2024, Alyssa worked in Undergraduate Admission at her alma mater, Merrimack College. Alyssa is excited to work with first-year students attending pre-orientation and orientation as they transition into the Tufts community! In her role, Alyssa also supports student life initiatives and fraternity and sorority life on campus.
Joe Peterson
Head Orientation Coordinator
Joe '27 (he/him) is a rising Junior from Woodbury, Minnesota studying Community Health and Theatre, Dance, & Performance Studies with a minor in Peace & Justice Studies. He is so excited to return to the Orientation team for another year! On campus, Joe is a Neubauer Scholar, an event planner for the Tufts University Social Collective (TUSC), and a Tour Guide. You might also see him performing with Tufts sQ! A Cappella and Torn Ticket II Musical Theatre. When he's not running around campus, you can find Joe scooping ice cream at J.P. Licks in Davis Square, perfecting his banana bread recipe, and scouring Boston for the best iced latte.
Iman Boulouah
Orientation Coordinator for Operations and Logistics
Iman '26 (she/her) is from Cambridge Massachusetts, she is currently a junior majoring in biology and biotechnology. At Tufts, she is involved with various clubs such as the TCU senate, Biotech club, and African student organization.
Carly Rothschild
Orientation Coordinator for Programs and Major Events
Carly '26 (she/her) is a junior at Tufts from Bethesda, Maryland and is currently studying Community Health and Spanish. Last year, she served as Coordinator for the SHAPE Pre-Orientation and is so thrilled this year to serve as an Undergraduate Orientation Coordinator, helping to welcome and support new students as they transition to Tufts. In her free time, she loves to travel, play with the Tufts Club Women's Waterpolo team, seek out live music and find the best coffee spots near campus.
Emily Louks
Graduate Intern
Emily (she/her) is originally from Southern California, but recently moved to Boston to pursue her M.A. in Higher Education at Boston College. Prior to working for Orientation at Tufts, she worked in orientation programming as an undergraduate at UC San Diego. She also has experience in student conduct and restorative practices, in her role as a Graduate Assistant at Boston College. Emily is excited to be getting back into orientation work at Tufts and to help incoming students transition to the community!
