Become a Graduate Academic Coach
About Us
The StAAR Center at Tufts University is hiring Graduate Academic Coaches for the 2026-2027 academic year. We're looking for motivated graduate students who want to make a positive impact on campus.
What Coaches Do
- Graduate Academic Coaches are responsible for providing one-on-one and group academic skills coaching to graduates and undergraduates.
- Coaches support students in developing foundational academic skills, executive functioning skills, and best practices for success across disciplines.
- One-on-one work may include a focus on time management, interpreting syllabi, developing study techniques, note-taking strategies, and identifying and reaching out to additional campus resources.
- Members of our team will staff additional programming for groups of students including academic skills workshops, accountability groups, study halls, and proctoring exams.
Who We're Looking For
- Master’s and PhD students from any department on the Medford campus.
- No GPA requirement
- Previous work/volunteer experience working in a helping role is preferred but not required.

Commitment
Graduate Academic Coaches are expected to be available for at least five hours, and up to ten, per week of one-on-one appointments with students.
Coaches are also expected to participate in all required training and professional development. All training and professional development is paid. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Approximately 20 hours of in-person and asynchronous training in July and August
- Approximately 1 hour per month of professional development activities, such as team meetings and coaching observations.
Salary
- $21.00 per hour
