Student Life on the SMFA Campus

In addition to all the resources of the Medford/Somerville campus, students have access to the Student Life Office at SMFA. Our office is located on the second floor of the B-side of the building at 230 Fenway. Below are some SMFA campus-specific resources.

Alyssa Baker, MFA

Associate Dean of Student Life at the SMFA

As Associate Dean, Alyssa provides overall direction and leadership at a strategic and policy planning level to the graduate and undergraduate student experience at the Tufts SMFA campus. Working closely with colleagues within the Dean of Student’s Office and campus partners, she assists with individual student support and responds to complex student needs.

With more than 20 years of experience, Alyssa has distinguished herself at the intersection of higher education and the arts. During her 14 years at Boston University’s College of Fine Arts, she focused on strategies to help art students achieve educational success.

She holds a Master of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History, both from Boston University.

Drew is a student affairs leader who blends creativity, strategy, and community‑building to shape student experiences. Drew has led teams, advised student leaders, and built programs that strengthen belonging and leadership development. Drew’s work centers on cultivating supportive, values‑aligned environments where communities feel empowered to grow, connect, and thrive.

Student Services Coordinator

Prior to joining the SMFA in July of 2016, Colin was an Administrative Assistant at Tufts Dental school and provided administrative support for various departments at Harvard University for over three years. In addition to his work in Student Life, Colin is a jeweler and photographer who's work is in a number of private collections in the US.
