Academic Awards: Arts and Sciences BA/BS and Engineering
Tufts applauds the accomplishments of the hundreds of students, both graduate and undergraduate, who win awards and prizes sponsored by generous donors and various academic departments. Most prize winners are recognized at our annual Honors Convocation (also known as Academic Awards Night). Seniors receiving a departmental award will be honored during Phase II ceremonies at Commencement.

Nomination Process
General Academic Awards
Faculty and staff are invited to nominate a student for a general academic award. Please submit only one student per award. Nominations for General Academic Awards close on February 5, 2024.
Please fill out the following information on the google form:
- Nominee Information (Student name, ID, Class Year, School - A&S or Engineering)
- Name of award
- Nominator Information (Your name and department affiliation)
- Required Documents: Attach your signed letter of support that specifically addresses the award criteria. Note that several awards specify class or school - make sure your nominee qualifies. It is not necessary to include the student's transcript; Dowling staff will provide the transcript after the nomination form is complete.
Departmental Awards
Departmental awards are open only to students in a particular department who are nominated by the chair of that department. Nominations for Competitive and Departmental close on February 23, 2024.
General Awards and Prizes
The prizes listed below are awarded by the Academic Awards Committee based on nominations of faculty and staff members. Students may not apply for these awards directly. Nominations are solicited every January and February, and must be accompanied by a letter of support. Contact Michael Ragone for more information.

Competitive Prizes and Scholarships
The Competitive Awards are determined by a competitive process or by a special selection committee. Unsolicited nominations are not part of the selection process for Competitive Prizes and Scholarships.

The Departmental Awards are determined via recommendation by the faculties of academic departments and programs.
