Billing Policies
Financial Withdrawal Policy
Bills are only issued when a balance is due. If a student’s account remains unsettled beyond the billing due date, subsequent bills will be issued reflecting monthly late payment charges. If the student’s account remains unsettled after the first day of classes, the student may be subject to withdrawal from the university for non-payment.
Students are strongly encouraged to communicate with Student Financial Services as soon as they encounter personal or financial difficulties so that the university may help identify possible solutions and alternatives for meeting individual needs.
Holds and Late Fees
Payments not made by the due date will be subject to account holds and monthly late fees as early as two weeks being past due, or sooner for short term courses and summer sessions. Late fees will be calculated at a rate of 1.5%. This percentage will be charged on a monthly basis as long as an outstanding balance remains.
- Under S2248 PL 115-407 Section 103, Tufts will not impose a late fee, denial of access to facilities, or other penalty against a veteran or eligible dependent due to a late payment of tuition and/or fees from the VA up to the certified benefits amount. Any portion of the balance not covered by VA benefits is still expected to be settled by the due date.
