Tufts is dedicated to ensuring the success of every outstanding student who has earned admission. We want you to thrive in our community, and we don't want financial concerns to be a barrier.

Did you know?

Tufts meets 100% of demonstrated need for every accepted student regardless of citizenship status.

44% of students receive financial aid

$55,000 is the average total of grants in a financial aid award

$14,300 is the average amount of undergraduate debt

What does this mean?

For many students, the actual cost of attending Tufts is much lower than the "official" figure. Tufts will cover the difference between what we estimate a family can afford based on their income and assets, and the total cost of attendance, which includes tuition, fees, housing, and meals.

Why?

Tufts is dedicated to ensuring the success of every outstanding student who has earned admission. We want you to thrive in our community, and we don't want financial concerns to be a barrier.

Despite annual increases in the official cost of attendance, the actual average cost for students has decreased in recent years, thanks to the growing amount of financial aid we provide.

How?

Tufts offers a range of financial aid support, from scholarships and loans, work study opportunities and grants. And that support has grown every year.

In fact, students with an annual family income of less than $60,000 will typically receive a financial aid package with no student loans, which means they will graduate with no debt.

2025-26 Cost of Attendance

The costs below represent on-campus housing and dining plans that include 3 meals + snack daily. Figures for university tuition, fees, and health insurance are preliminary estimates only and subject to approval and changes by the Board of Trustees in May 2025.

Your financial aid will offset this total cost of attendance, representing what you and your family will actually pay.

* Housing does not reflect the actual charge for an on-campus room selection, or the actual cost of off-campus rent. Federal Student Aid regulations require the use of the average cost of housing for each housing category.

Food does not reflect the actual charge for a meal plan selection, or the actual cost of food for a student who did not purchase a meal plan. The amount is based on the cost of the Tufts Full Plan.

Fees include mandatory Health and Wellness and Activity fees, and Orientation fee for first-year students.

Your cost of attendance also includes out-of-pocket expenses that vary for each individual but are categories of expenses that are important to plan for. The costs are factored in when a student’s financial aid is determined.

Other Expenses

Students who are not covered by a family member's insurance plan will need to enroll in the university's student health insurance plan, which incurs an additional cost. Financial aid may cover this expense for some students. However, many students can waive the university's health insurance plan if they have other coverage options.
