Guest and Capacity Policy for Student Events
General Guidelines
- All Guest Policy requests will be approved as part of the Event Registration process
- Most events are open to Tufts students and staff with valid Tufts University ID
- All event locations must follow set capacity numbers
- Student Organizations should either select organization volunteers or hire OCL Event Staff to manage the door or
- Some spaces/events require OCL Event Staff
- Events may have limited capacity and require tickets
- All Student Organizations must use Tufts Tickets to sell event tickets or the Cohen Box Office, if applicable
- All Event space capacity information can be found on the Tufts University Space and Resource Reservation System, if you need help finding this information you can contact ocl@tufts.edu
- General Public: General public access for student organization events is generally only allowed for seated events and programming. General public will never be allowed for open floor events or off-campus parties at off-campus venues. NOTE: See City Wide guidelines below for exception to off-campus guest guidelines.
- Off-campus events at off-campus venues will require additional planning including contract negotiation. Off-campus events may have guests using the guidelines below. Off-campus events will never be open to the general public. This policy may be waived for certain off-campus seated events.
Tufts Only Plus Guest List
- Student Organizations wishing for Tufts Only, but inviting specific off-campus guests connected to the event/organization may submit a guest list

- Guest list may not exceed 25, which includes outside performers
- Guest list must be submitted to the OCL at least 48 hours prior to the event
- Guests must show legal form of photo identification to enter
- Sponsoring Student Organization is responsible for all guest behavior
- Guests must adhere to all Tufts University rules/regulations
Tufts Plus One
- Student Organization events should maintain priority attendance for Tufts University students
- For Tufts Plus One events, Tufts University undergraduate attendees may bring one non-Tufts guest

- Guest must have valid for of photo ID
- Guests must be with their Tufts host at all times
- Tufts student host is responsible for all guest behavior
- Guests must adhere to all Tufts University rules/regulations
City Wide
- Student Organizations wishing to host city wide events must contact ocl@tufts.edu four weeks in advance and follow the City Wide Event Planning Requirements
- Tufts City Wide Guidelines
- For City Wide Events, Tufts University students and students from local colleges/universities are invited by the host student organization
- All attendees must be current college/university students with a valid college/university photo ID to enter
- Sponsoring Student Organization is responsible for all guest behavior
