First-Year Undergraduate Housing

Process

Living on campus is a core part of the learning and growth experience for undergraduates. All incoming students are assigned a roommate and residence hall based on Residential Life’s Housing Survey that you are required to fill out as part of the matriculation process.

Meeting and living with people who have traveled a different life journey to arrive at Tufts and who share different perspectives is key to the Tufts residential life experience.

Each residential community is staffed with Resident Assistants who are undergraduate or graduate students and full-time professional staff who are focused on providing residential education and facilitating social connection.

The 2026-2027 Housing Survey will be available for incoming undergraduate students beginning on May 1, 2026. When it is available, students can access the Housing Survey by logging into SIS.

Accessing the Housing Portal

  1. Log into SIS.
  2. Click on “About Me,” then click on “Housing.”
  3. Once you have reached the Home Page, click on “Application” on the top left of the screen.

It is important that students complete the Housing Survey so Residential Life can make the best possible roommate matches. Incoming first year students cannot select or request a roommate.
