BLOOM Center

The Tufts University BLOOM (Belonging, Learning, Opportunity, and Mentoring) Center champions student academic, social, and professional success by fostering an inclusive, equity-driven community through holistic, student-centered programming, intentional mentorship, and strong connections to campus resources. Building on the legacies of the FIRST Resource Center and the Center for STEM Diversity, BLOOM centers the experiences of those who are first-generation, high-financial need, and/or navigating college and/or STEM without a clear roadmap, while welcoming undergraduate students from all backgrounds. BLOOM aims to demystify the hidden curriculum of college and grounds its work in multiple theoretical frameworks, including Community Cultural Wealth (Yosso, 2005) and the Thrive Mosaic Framework (Chapman, 2018). By approaching student development from a multifaceted, asset-based lens, BLOOM uplifts the diverse forms of knowledge, resilience, resources, and capital students bring to their educational journeys, empowering students to reach their full potential.
