Frequently Asked Questions

  • Sign-ups are not required but we do ask that you let us know which events you plan to attend and how many guests you anticipate so we can provide a comfortable day for all. These responses will be collected in the My Commencement site in SIS. Once the site is live, you can click on My Graduation Status in SIS to access the sign-up form. You can only access this page if you are in one of the approved invited degree candidate/recipient cycles as noted above and have applied for graduation.

  • If you do not sign up before the form closes, you can still attend commencement, but you may not be able to select your preferred alignment area. Your printed Marching Card will reflect an assigned alignment area and the Phase II location for your primary major or program’s.

  • Since tickets are not required for Commencement, you are welcome to bring any number of guests and do not need to notify Student Services if the numbers change.

  • The My Graduation Status button will show up on the left side of your homepage in SIS. You can also access it by choosing Apply for Graduation under Academics.

  • For undergraduate students, after you submit your graduation packet materials and they have been received, your status will show as "In Review" or "Program in Review". These statuses will remain until after you have graduated and mean that we have your graduation materials and we will reach out to you with any questions. If your graduation status says "In Review" and you have not heard anything since submitting your packet, that means that you are on track to graduate, pending successful completion of your remaining courses.

  • You need to apply for graduation for one of the approved graduation terms in order to access this page. If you have not completed the application for graduation steps, review the details online for undergraduate students, and online for graduate students.

  • You can make changes until the form closes. If you were hoping to change your Phase II events, you are welcome to attend any of your department ceremonies but your marching card will only be printed with the ceremony you chose before the form closed. If you did not make a choice, your card will be printed with Phase II event information for your primary major or program. If you were looking to change the number of guests who will attend, this is unnecessary. We ask students to estimate the number of guests to provide a comfortable day for all, please estimate the number of family and guests who will attend the ceremonies, exact numbers and tickets are not required.

Check-in with Student Services when you pick up your marching card to make sure you know the correct time and location of the Phase II ceremony you wish to attend.

  • You are welcome to attend the other, or both, department ceremonies but your marching card will only be printed with the ceremony you chose before the form closed. Check-in with Student Services when you pick up your marching card to make sure you know the correct time and location of the Phase II ceremony you wish to attend.

  • There are a limited number of spaces on Tisch Roof and for each alignment area. If Tisch Roof has no remaining spaces, undergraduate students will need to choose either Miller Hall or Braker Hall. All graduate students line up in the same location.

  • You can sign up for and attend both departmental Phase II ceremonies if they do not conflict. You should select both events when completing the form and will receive two marching cards.

  • Students are not formally attended to invite Phase II ceremonies for minors.
